CALF-GUARD® contains attenuated strains of bovine rotavirus and bovine coronavirus to help protect newborn calves from diarrhea.

For vaccination of healthy newborn calves or pregnant cows as an aid in preventing diarrhea (scours) caused by bovine rotavirus and coronavirus.

General directions: Vaccination of healthy newborn calves or pregnant cows is recommended. Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the sterile diluent provided, shake well and administer 3 mL without delay.

Calf vaccination: Remove needle from syringe and administer a single 3-mL dose into the back of the calf's mouth. Vaccination should occur as soon as possible after birth because susceptible calves are at risk as soon as they are born. Vaccination of calves older than 1 day may not be effective.

Cow vaccination: Healthy cows should receive two 3-mL IM doses administered three to six weeks apart during late pregnancy. Ideally, the second dose should be administered within 30 days prior to calving. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) guidelines, this product should be administered in the muscular region of the neck.

Cow revaccination: Cows should be revaccinated with two doses during each subsequent pregnancy.

Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices should be employed.

This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy cattle 3 months of age or older against Mannheimia haemolytica.

Indications: For vaccination of healthy dairy or beef cattle three months of age or older as an aid in the reduction of severity of pneumonic pasteurellosis by stimulating immunity to Mannheimia haemolytica.

Dosage and Administration: Inject one 2 mL dose subcutaneously in the neck area, anterior to the shoulder, using aseptic technique. Healthy cattle should be vaccinated a minimum of 14 days prior to shipping or exposure to stress which may precipitate infectious conditions. Although only a single dose is necessary to confer active immunity, a booster dose is recommended whenever subsequent stress is likely.

Precautions: Store in the dark at 35-45°F (2-7°C). Do not freeze. Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. In case of anaphylactoid reaction, administer epinephrine. Caution: Do not use as diluent for live vaccines.

For the vaccine of healthy cattle and sheep as an aid in preventing Clostridium perfringens, Types C and D, due to enterotoxemia. May also provide immunity against the beta and epsilon toxins elaborated by Cl. perfringens Type B. This immunity is derived from the Type C (beta) and Type D (epsilon) fractions.

Respiratory duration of immunity has been shown to be at least 1 year for IBR and BVD (Types 1 and 2) and at least 16 weeks for Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida. Reproductive duration of immunity has been shown to be at least 217 days for IBR and at least 206 days for BVD (Types 1 and 2). Duration of immunity for BRSV and PI3 has not been established. MIXING DIRECTIONS: 50 Doses - Rehydrate freeze dried vial of Vista® Once SQ with part of the accompanying vial of diluent using the transfer needle provided (see pictorial directions). Mix reconstituted vial well and transfer rehydrated vaccine into diluent vial using transfer needle. Remove transfer needle from former diluent vial and mix reconstituted vial well. Peel label from bottle of Vista® Once SQ and place on diluent vial containing all vaccine.

MIXING DIRECTIONS:

1. Insert the transfer needle fully into the small vial of dehydrated vaccine to release the vacuum.

2. Insert the other end of the transfer needle fully into the large vial of sterile diluent.

3. Squeeze enough diluent from the large bottle into the smaller vial to rehydrate the vaccine.

4. With the two bottles still attached, swirl the small vial gently until the vaccine is mixed.

5. With the small vial upside down, squeeze the large bottle several times to draw the mixed vaccine into the large bottle.

6. Separate the bottles and remove the vaccine label from the small vial and apply it to the large bottle for proper identification.
